Early awareness, diagnosis, and treatment of lipedema are of critical importance, since the more advanced the stage, the more difficult the treatment. From our experience, there seems to be a significant gap in this area, both within the medical community and among patients.<\/p><p data-start=\"618\" data-end=\"905\">Most women who visit our clinic have not been referred by another doctor but have randomly found information online or through another source and have essentially identified their symptoms by reading about lipedema. We know that certain factors play a role in its appearance and severity, but we do not know exactly what role each factor plays or to what extent. From the medical studies carried out so far, we know that lipedema can be influenced by:<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"\/en\/body-contouring\/lipedema-therapy\/lipedema-and-nutrition\/\">Diet<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"\/en\/body-contouring\/lipedema-therapy\/lipedema-and-genetics\/\">Genetics<br \/><\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"\/en\/body-contouring\/lipedema-therapy\/lipedema-and-hormonal-changes\/\">Hormonal changes<br \/><\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"\/en\/body-contouring\/lipedema-therapy\/lipedema-and-obesity\/\">Body weight<br \/><\/a><\/li><li>Environmental pollution<\/li><\/ul><p>These factors may contribute to the onset of the condition or aggravate its severity. Unfortunately, we do not yet know the exact extent of each factor\u2019s involvement, but many international studies are being conducted to shed light on the mystery that still surrounds lipedema.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0b67550 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"0b67550\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">The Pathophysiology of Lipedema<br><br><\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b53a65a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"b53a65a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>What should we know from a pathophysiological perspective in order to make a correct self-diagnosis of lipedema? At this level, we observe many different changes, both at the level of fat cells and at the level of blood vessels and lymphatic vessels. All studies suggest that it is a metabolic inflammatory disease of adipose tissue, accompanied by changes in the endothelium of small vessels and capillaries around the fat, as well as damage to lymphatic vessels.  <\/p>\n<p><strong>Fat cells change histologically<\/strong> and function like a \u201cdamaged sponge,\u201d constantly leaking fluids. These fluids around the fat cells create the characteristic appearance of swelling. <\/p>\n<p>Since lipedema is a <strong>chronic and progressive condition<\/strong>, the continuous accumulation of fluids in the intercellular space creates a vicious cycle. They are now found in soil, water, food, animals, plants, and even in embryos.<\/p>\n<p>Microplastics are being thoroughly investigated by many clinical and medical studies, as they are potentially linked to multiple conditions such as autism, attention deficit disorder, infertility, and various metabolic diseases.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-eb78b7e elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"eb78b7e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Lipedema and Microplastics\n<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-371e7b5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"371e7b5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Microplastics are <strong>substances resulting from the breakdown of plastics released into our environment.<\/strong> They are microscopic, infiltrating the entire ecosystem, and inevitably end up in the human body.<\/p>\n<p>It is estimated that we consume every week a quantity of microplastics equivalent to the size of a credit card. Studies suggest these substances mimic certain growth hormones in our bodies, such as IGF, and can trigger various metabolic diseases. <\/p>\n<p><strong>The role of IGF in lipedema<\/strong> is still under investigation and appears to be important, so it is quite possible that microplastics also influence the appearance and severity of lipedema to some degree. We hope that in the future we will know more about this connection. <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-75de775 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"75de775\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Metabolic Diseases and Lipedema\n<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1d25f6b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1d25f6b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Sometimes metabolic diseases coexist with lipedema, without showing a clear correlation between the two.
