Photo and consent policy
Last updated: 18 October 2026
Before and after photos help you understand what a procedure can achieve. To be useful they must be true, and to be fair they must respect the people they show. This page explains how we make sure of both.
Who is shown?
Every before and after photo on this website is of a patient of Dr Prodromos Papaioannou, operated on by him personally. We do not use other doctors’ photos, stock images or computer-generated images. Only Dr Papaioannou selects which cases are published.
Separate written consent
Photos are published only if the patient signs a separate written consent to publication, distinct from the consent to surgery. This consent is optional: if it is not given, the patient’s care does not change in any way.
In the consent, the patient chooses where the photos may appear: only on the results page for the procedure, also on other pages of the website or, with full consent, also on the practice’s social media and in scientific lectures. The patient can also give limited consent so that the face cannot be recognised: the eyes and upper face are then covered, or the photo is cropped. Sensitive areas of the body are covered in the same way.
No retouching
Photos are not digitally altered or retouched in any way. We do not change skin, shape, light or colour. The only changes to the file are cropping and alignment, so that the before and after photos share the same frame, and, when the patient asks for it, the covering described above.
Photos are taken at the practice with consistent lighting and the same standard positions before and after surgery, so the comparison is honest.
No identifying details
Photos are published without the patient’s name or any other identifying detail. File metadata, such as location and device, is removed before publication.
Results vary
Each case shows the result of one particular person. Your own result depends on your anatomy, skin, age and healing, and you will discuss it with the doctor at your consultation.
Withdrawing consent and removing photos
A patient can withdraw consent at any time, without giving a reason. We remove the photos from the website and the practice’s social media within 5 working days and do not use them in new lectures. We cannot control copies third parties have already saved, but we ask search engines to remove them from their results.
If you recognise yourself in a photo and would like it removed, please contact us:
